Square API Connection
Prepare Square authorization and API connection values for a Next-Cart migration service when Square API setup is shown.
Square API Connection
Section titled “Square API Connection”A valid Square API connection gives Next-Cart the authorized platform access required by the selected migration path.
Next-Cart may ask you to authorize Square through a Square authorization link or enter a Square API Key or token value returned by the authorization flow.
When to use this guide
Section titled “When to use this guide”Use this guide when:
- Square is the Source Platform or Target Platform in your selected migration path;
- Next-Cart shows Square API setup;
- Next-Cart asks you to complete Square authorization or enter a Square API Key, token, or related connection value.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”Before you begin, confirm that:

| Square account access | You need to sign in to the Square account connected to the correct business. |
| Permission to authorize apps | The account must be allowed to grant access to the required Square data. |
| Correct business selected | Square accounts may have more than one business or location. |
| Secure storage | Any token or key shown after authorization must be copied only into approved secure locations. |
Required values

Prepare the API connection values
Section titled “Prepare the API connection values”- Open the Square authorization link shown by Next-Cart.
- Sign in to the correct Square account.
- Confirm that the Square business or location matches the migration path.
- Review the access request shown by Square.
- Approve the authorization if the requested access matches the migration scope.
- Copy the API Key, token, or authorization value shown after approval if Next-Cart asks you to enter it manually.
- Return to the Next-Cart connection setup screen.
Enter the values in Next-Cart
Section titled “Enter the values in Next-Cart”In the Next-Cart connection setup screen, enter only the values requested by the interface.

Expected result

Verify the connection

| Authorization completeness | The Square authorization flow completed without cancellation or access denial. |

If the connection fails
Section titled “If the connection fails”| Issue | What to check |
|---|---|
| Authorization denied | Run the authorization flow again and approve the requested access if appropriate. |
| Wrong Square account | Sign out of Square, then repeat authorization with the correct account. |
| Wrong business or location | Confirm the selected Square business or location during authorization. |
| Expired or invalid value | Repeat the authorization path shown by Next-Cart and copy the new value if one is shown. |
Security cleanup
Section titled “Security cleanup”After migration work is complete and verified:
- remove or revoke temporary API credentials where the platform provides that option;
- reduce access if a broader permission set was used only for migration work;
- remove copied credentials from insecure notes, tickets, chats, or shared files;
- review the store admin account or API user used for API setup.
