Customer Password Plugin
Section titled “Customer Password Plugin”The Customer Password Plugin helps returning customers use their existing Source Store passwords on a supported Target Store. It works by adding the Source Store’s password-verification method to the Target Store so migrated password-verification data can be checked without exposing plaintext passwords.
Plugin support is Source-to-Target pair specific. Do not infer support from whether a platform is Open-Source, from the connection method, or from a platform appearing elsewhere in the table. Use the exact pair listed on this page.

Use the Customer Password Plugin
Section titled “Use the Customer Password Plugin”- Confirm that the exact Source Platform and Target Platform pair appears in the compatibility tables above.
- Download the package listed for that exact pair.
- Install the downloaded Customer Password Plugin on the Target Store. The plugin can be installed before or after migration.
- Complete the supported Customer migration scope for the project.
- Test account access with designated test customers whose credentials are already known to the authorized project team.
- Confirm that each test customer can sign in through the intended Target Store login flow and that the account resolves to the correct migrated Customer record.
Validate customer access
Section titled “Validate customer access”Use a representative test set rather than one account. Include normal returning customers and any higher-risk account types that matter to the project, such as customers with multiple addresses, customer groups, B2B relationships, or substantial Order history.

If the exact pair is not listed, do not install a package intended for another Source Platform or Target Platform. Plan the supported password-reset or account-activation journey instead and include that behavior in launch acceptance criteria.
Failure handling
Section titled “Failure handling”| Issue | Action |

| Exact Source-to-Target pair is not listed | Treat Customer Password Plugin continuity as unsupported for that pair. Use the approved password-reset or account-activation path. |
| Wrong package was downloaded | Discard it and download the package from the row matching the exact Source and Target pair. |
| Plugin is installed but the test customer cannot sign in | Confirm that the correct pair and package were used, confirm the Customer record was migrated, preserve the affected Customer identifier and test result, and contact Support. Do not send the customer’s plaintext password in a ticket. |
| Customer can sign in but account data is incomplete | Validate Customer fields and relationships separately. Password continuity does not replace Customer-data validation. |
