Validate Results After a Migration Action
Verify the action, processed source scope, configuration behavior, and target result after later migration activity.
Validate Results After a Migration Action
Section titled “Validate Results After a Migration Action”Verify that the selected migration action, configuration path, and source-reading behavior produced the intended immediate result before another activity changes the same target scope. This check does not replace complete target-store validation or launch sign-off.
When to use this checklist
Section titled “When to use this checklist”Use it after one of these actions reaches a final state:
- Continue the Migration with the Last Used Configuration;
- Continue the Migration with a New Configuration;
- Perform a New Migration.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”Collect the History entry, completed time, migration path, purchased service, configuration used, Source Platform Options, Success, Failed, and Skipped results, Entity Points usage, available migration log, and representative source-to-target identifiers.
Set the validation boundary
Section titled “Set the validation boundary”| Completed action | Immediate validation boundary |
|---|---|
| Last Used Configuration | Newly processed source scope plus checks that the earlier accepted result remains intact. |
| New Configuration | Newly processed scope, every changed setting, and earlier records or relationships that the change could affect. |
| New Migration | Complete fresh result, replacement scope, target-data clearing, protected records, and all selected data types. |
| Source Platform Option | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Continue the previous migration | Processing resumed from the expected interruption point without an unintended gap or duplicate scope. |
| Migrate only newly added entities | Only records added after the last successful run were expected; updated existing records were not treated as newly added. |
| Neither option | The normal configured source scope was processed. |
Verify the action result
Section titled “Verify the action result”-
Confirm the recorded activity
Verify the exact action, migration path, purchased service, completed time, and Run Mode in History.
-
Confirm the source-data window
Compare the enabled Source Platform Options with the records actually processed. Do not infer the source window from the migration action alone.
-
Reconcile processing evidence
Review Success, Failed, and Skipped results for every selected data type. Investigate unexplained omissions before approving the target result.
-
Apply the action-specific checks
Test the records, configuration changes, replacement behavior, and protected target scope defined below.
-
Reconcile Entity Points
Confirm that newly eligible counted records consumed points when first migrated successfully and that previously counted records were not charged again merely because this action processed them.
-
Record the immediate decision
Mark the result Pass, Pass with accepted limitations, or Fail. Preserve the evidence and route the result to complete target-store validation.
Action-specific checks
Section titled “Action-specific checks”Last Used Configuration
Section titled “Last Used Configuration”- The recorded configuration loaded unchanged.
- The intended source scope was processed.
- Previously accepted records and relationships remain usable.
- No change-dependent behavior was expected.
New Configuration
Section titled “New Configuration”- Every approved configuration difference is present.
- Representative records demonstrate each changed behavior.
- Relationships affected by the changes remain correct.
- Earlier accepted data was not altered unexpectedly.
New Migration
Section titled “New Migration”- The fresh configuration produced the intended result.
- Replacement stayed within the approved scope.
- Target-data clearing matched its separately approved setting.
- Protected manual and application-created records remain.
- Recovery evidence remains available until sign-off.
If the result fails
Section titled “If the result fails”| Finding | Corrective owner |
|---|---|
| Wrong connection or inaccessible data | Correct and verify Connect Stores. |
| Wrong selected Data, Option, or standard mapping | Correct Configure Your Migration. |
| Wrong filter, field or database mapping destination, or transformation | Correct the purchased Add-on and revalidate the affected scope. |
| Approved Customization missing or incorrect | Review the agreed Custom Service requirement and open a ticket with evidence. |
| Failed or Skipped records explain the result | Correct the responsible source, platform, access, capacity, or configuration condition. |
| Wrong source-data window | Correct Source Platform Options before another activity. |
| Unexpected replacement or deletion | Stop further target changes, preserve evidence, and apply the recovery plan. |
| Entity Points discrepancy | Review Statistics and Entity Points Issues before continuing. |
Evidence record
Section titled “Evidence record”Record the action, Source Platform Options, completed time, Run Mode, configuration reference and changes, processed scope, Success, Failed, and Skipped results, representative identifiers, replacement and protected-record result, Entity Points result, findings, owners, decision, and approved next action.
Next step
Section titled “Next step”Continue to Validate and Launch Your Target Store for complete migration validation, sign-off, and launch readiness.
